The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is considering extending online stock trading time to be more flexible and complied with the global stock markets, board director Pattriya Benchapholchai said on Thursday.
Ms. Pattriya said the SET will need two to three months to study the possibility before filing proposal for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’ approval.
“We have to study the pros and the cons, as well as the appropriate hours, which can be during noon-break, early to office-hour, and after work that goes with the international markets. We need to be careful in details and this is not an urgent agenda,” she said.
Ms. Pattriya’s proposal was reported discussed in the last board meeting but had been turned down for studying more the advantages and disadvantages, as well as the possibility in practical operation.
There is no timetable to resubmit it again to the board meeting agenda.
