Power Line wins rail line bidding

A group of bidders led by Power Line Engineering Plc (PLE) and Ascon Construction Plc (ACON) has been announced as winner to build maintenance and parking facilities for Bangkok’s “purple line” mass transit project, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand, Chaisit Kururat, told reporters.

He said Power Line had put in the lowest bid of 6.39 billion baht, lower than 6.88 billion baht from Thailand largest construction firm Italian Thai Development Plc (ITD) and 7.63 billion baht of the country leading contractor CH. Karnchang Plc (CK).

The 6.0-billion-budget contract was the last lot for Bangkok’s 36.0 billion ($1.1 billion) 23 km elevated train line connecting urban communities to the capital, which stretched from northern district of Bang Sue to its neighboring province Nonthaburi.

Shares of construction companies were reported slightly traded down on Tuesday in line with the market index.

The day’s most noticeable deal involved in ITD (2.76 -9.80%), STEC (3.74 - 3.10%), CK (3.66 -4.18%), ASCON (4.50 -3.01%), and PLE (1.52 -5.59%).
