Taking the advantage in the global economic downturn, Thai companies with bulge budget like Thai Summit Group of Dr. Somprn JJuangroongtuangkit, the country’s largest manufacturer of auto parts, is shopping for oversea technology companies with liquidity problem.

The company is close to invest 3.0 billion baht in die-making and auto part companies in Japan, people familiar with the matter disclosed.

Thai Summit Group’s Vice President Thanathorn Juangroongtuangkit declined to comment, saying nobody is bold enough to make any such decision in the economic recession.

The group of companies recent moved to acquire several Japanese auto part manufacturing companies such as Thai Summit PKK Co., Ltd., the country largest maker of chassis for pickup truck, in Bangpli district and Jideco Co., Ltd. in Rayong.
