Samsung cellphone sales overtakes Nokia
Thai Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.’s chief marketing officer for telecom business Manathes Annawat announced sales of its mobile handsets has surpassed Nokia to Thailand’s No.1 for first time in 10 years since it entered into the market.
“We have captured 32.9 percent in market share for November,” he told a news conference. “We also expect 35 percent for December.”
Mr. Manathes said the statistics marked Samsung’s milestone in its creative marketing and ability for the competition.
He said the company’s higher sales are stemmed from its quality products, product positioning, and creative promotional campaigns, which bombarded consumers throughout the year.
Samsung shipped more than 1.5 million touch-phones or 40 percent in the market total value of 9.0 billion baht.
The company said it provides around 1.0 billion baht in ad budges for 2010 and hopes to generate more than ten billion baht in sales.
