Sale of vehicles has hit a record high in 24 months at Ford Thailand, the company said in a statement.

The automaker’s senior vice president Saroj Kiertfeungfoo reported its has sold 660 units of Ford Ranger, the company’s light pickup truck, in December, or up 37 percent compared with the previous month. The figure is the company’s new record high for single month sale since November 2007.

He said sale of Ford vehicles also increased in every model: Ford Escaped was sold 175 percent more than the previous month in December; Ford Everest sales increased 39 percent.

Ford passenger car Focus TDCI sale jumped 216 percent from April 2007, pushing the company’s overall vehicle sale up 81 percent in the fourth quarter, comparing to the third quarter.

“December sale has been the strongest month in all the models. This reflects the company’s product quality that matches the need of individual’s different lifestyle,” Mr. Saroj commented.

He said the automaker expects even more sales in 2010 with the introduction of Ford popular compact car Fiesta, which Ford has invested more than $500 million in assembly line only for the model.
