Advance Info Service (AIS), is upgrading its mobile network services from the current EDGE system to 3G, full services of the new system is expected operational as fast as 2009.
Surawat Shinnawatra, managing director at AIS, said the major overhaul in upgrading the network will start from call center services, which involved in turning its staffs into professional ‘call center jockeys’ (CJs).
The center is reported generated around 20 million baht per month to AIS from downloading services of mobile contents and applications with overturn of 1.2 million per month in download.
AIS ring tone service alone is downloaded averaging 180 songs a day, commercially accounted for 40 per cent of total revenues. Mr. Suparat said AIS aims to recruit up to 2,400 staffers in Bangkok.
“We want to give life into the call center services, which will provide better service quality and make customers feel better comfort,” he said.
AIS has five foreign-language services including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and French available through centers nationwide.
It hopes to see ring tone downloads up from current 180 to 250 songs a day through 70 CJs.
