Nine-month auto export rose 21.5%

Thailand’s nine-month automobile export has been increased by 21.5 percent year-on-year in 2008 to 599,431 units, or equivalent of 434.27 million baht when compared with the same period a previous year, the Federation of Thailand Industries’ automobile industry club reported.

“The country’s total auto production also rose 14.5 percent to 1.07 million units for the period, 603,063 of which have been shipped to the oversea markets while the remaining 465,667 units are made for the local market,” said the club spokesperson Surapong Phaisitpattanapong.

He said the production of passenger cars for nine month rose 32.42 percent to 308,255 units while the production of one-ton pickup truck increased 9.23 percent to 746,375 units.
