As fuel prices rebound imminently, General Motors Thailand has offered an attractive discount on its Chevrolet Optra CNG model at a huge cut price of 160 thousand baht a unit.

The offer is only running through end of May. Promotion packages include a lucky drawn of travel package for two worth 200 thousand baht and gas coupon of 3,000 baht.

Sasinant Allmand, director for communications at General Motors Thailand, said the automaker understands car owners’ concern of the imminent rebound in oil prices.

“The Optra CNG is able to run on two different types of fuel: Compressed Natural Gas and gasoline. The CNG-car itself is also increasing in popularity due to PTT’s scheme of nationwide expansion of CNG service stations,” she commented.

Under the attractive discount, the Optra CNG a unit is sold at 599,000 baht a unit, down 160 thousand baht from its showroom price of 759,000 baht.

General Motors sold total 4,800 Optra CNG in 2008 and 580 units in the first quarter of 2009, up more than 100 percent from the same period a year ago, and up more than 300 percent of 253 units in April compared to 71 units in January.
