BMW to launch new 1 Series at Motor Show

BMW Group Thailand’s president Michael Kordys said the German prestige carmaker will introduce its smallest model 1 Series into the Thai market at the beginning of this summer at the Bangkok International Motor Show, a ten-day auto show event running from March 26 through April 6, 2008 and held yearly at the BITEC in Bangna district east of Bangkok.

The 1 Series is a light, affordable, and agile sublime vehicle designed to fill space between BMW two icons: the Mini Cooper and the 3 Series.

The first model to be introduced into the kingdom is the 120d with engine displacement of 2.0 liters four cylinders and produces maximum power of 177 hp at 4,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 1,750-3,000 rpm.

It goes from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 226 km/h while consumes energy economically at 161 km/l.

BMW aims to sell the 120d with the BSI (BMW Service Inclusive) package—a warranty program of up to 5 years or 100,000 km of use and its prices will start at 3.699 million baht.
