BMW cut 5 Series prices to reach into larger customer base
BMW Thailand announces prices cut on its mid-range, executive sedan 5 Series diesel version by more than 700 thousand baht a unit in an attempt to expand customer base into executives and entrepreneurs in the small and medium size enterprise sector.
BMW’s director for sale and marketing Karl Rudiger said that by setting the new 5 Series price to lower than 3 million baht a unit; the company would be now able to reach into a larger group of customers in small business organization that has budget for executive vehicle less than 3 million baht.
However, the price cut comes with a sacrifice on luxury accessory items such as the Xenon lights, the comfort access system, and the CD changer, but not on the items that involved in car performance and safety.
“A research found that this class of people does not usually drive a company vehicle in daily commuting but spending most of the time in back seats,” Mr. Rudiger said. “By the way, eliminating unnecessary luxury items would help the car get a better mileage on fuel.”
BMW vehicles comes with the BSI (BMW Service Inclusive) package that offers free car maintenance for 5 years or up to 100,000 km of mileage of use.
BMW 520d uses a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder common rail direct injection engine that produces a peak power of 177 hp at 4,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at around 1,750 and 3,000 rpm. It comes equipped with a 6-speed Steptronic transmission and goes from 0-100 km/h in 8.4 seconds.
